A memorial scroll and plaque [or Death Man`s Penny] was issued to the next of kin of all British & Empire service personnel who were killed as a result of the war. The scrolls were printed with the serviceman`s name, rank and regiment and the plaques had the serviceman`s name engraved in the rectangular table.

They were cast in bronze with 1,355,000 being made and continued to be issued into the 1930`s to commemorate people who died as a consequence of the war.

Unfortunately, we have seen no copies of death plaques issued to any service personnel buried or remembered in Beckett Street
